I get it , this whole process is new for you and your fiance. I would expect you to have a ton of questions! I want to be as helpful and transparent as possible, so I've listed a bunch of frequently asked questions below to give you a better idea of how the process works.
We're ready to book! What are the next steps?
Yay! First, send me an inquiry through my contact form. You'll receive a full brochure with all my pricing and packages.
Once we've chatted and determined which options are best for your wedding day, I will send you a proposal which will include both your contract and invoice.
Once you sign the contract and pay the deposit, you'll officially be on my calendar!
How far in advance should we book you?
ASAP! Most of my weddings book about 12-18 months in advance, with Fall and Spring/Early Summer filling up first. So if you know you want me there for your big day please reach out as soon as possible!
Do you offer payment plans?
Absolutely! I completely understand how expensive weddings can be. That's why I always try to be as flexible as possible and can customize either a package or payment plan that works for us both!
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash, Check, online transfer through Honeybook,
Venmo (@MarisaLyon) or paypal
Do you use a second shooter?
Yes. All of my packages include a second shooter for either a full or partial wedding day.
How many images will we receive?
This can vary based on a lot of different factors from your unique wedding day. Typically you can expect to receive 50-100 images per hour of coverage.
However, I never limit the number of images you receive. You always receive the absolute very best to tell the full story of your day.
How will you deliver our photos?
Your wedding and engagement photos will be delivered via a private online gallery where you can download both high resolution and web size photos, share to social media or with friends/family and even purchase prints and other items!
How long does it take to get our photos?
You will get a sneak peek of 10-25 images within a week of your session or wedding day.
The turnaround time for your engagement photos is 3 weeks.
Wedding photos will be delivered via an online gallery within 6-8 weeks.
Can we see some full galleries?
Of course! Just head to the "Galleries" page and browse away!
Do you back up your images?
100%! I know how precious these photos are to you. Which means they are just as precious to me! My cameras record to dual cards which means the moment I click that shutter button, we already have a backup copy of every photo I take.
Once I get home, the first thing I do is back up your photos to 3 separate external hard drives so I have multiple copies of all your photos. I also don't reformat my SD cards until after I've delivered your full gallery so I never have less than 4 copies of your photos at all times.
I take my backup procedure very seriously and I urge you to do that same with your own photos for safe keeping as well!
What does your gear list include and do you have back up equipment?
You bet! I shoot with two Canon 5D Mark IV camera bodies. I also have a variety of lens and flashes for all lighting situations including the following:
Lenses - Canon 35mm 1.4, Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 85mm 1.4, Canon 24-70mm 2.8, Canon 70-200mm 2.8 and a Tamron 90mm macro lens for those gorgeous ring shots!
External Flashes - Canon 600EX II-RT and Canon 430EX-II Speedlites and a RALENO LED Video Soft Light Panel
Do you travel or shoot destination weddings?
HELL YES! I'd love to explore with you in any location! Just let me know your plans and vision and we can start planning your adventure!
What happens if we have to postpone or change our wedding date?
If something changes, let me know ASAP! If I'm available for your new wedding date, great! Then we will just reschedule to your new date. Easy peasy.
If unfortunately I am not available, I can arrange to have an associate shooter of comparable quality and professionalism there with you on your wedding day. I will still edit all of your photos so you get the finished product that you've been dreaming of <3 In the event you cancel your wedding altogether, the deposit is non-refundable.
Do you charge any travel fees?
Yes. If your wedding or session is more than 90 miles from Mentor, Ohio a travel fee will be communicated ahead of time and added to your invoice. If your wedding is more than 2 1/2 hours from Mentor, Ohio a hotel fee will also be added.
Can we have the RAW, unedited files?
I'm sorry, but no.
Would you go to a restaurant and order a burger that hasn't been cooked yet? You're not only paying for the finished product, but also for the chef's knowledge, craft and expertise.
My artistic vision is the same concept. And my RAW files do not portray my artistic vision or style. After all, isn't that one of the main reasons you're hiring me? ;)
